I have to admit that my view on this article is a little jaded because I personally know some of the people involved. With that being said though, I think that this is a really difficult situation for all those involved. On one hand the business has been in existence and has been operating from that location for 15 years. On the other the business is being disruptive to the homeowners that surround it.
For the homeowners I think that things boil down to doing your homework. I believe that they should have done their research on the homes and the area surrounding them before purchasing it. The business has been in operation for 15 years. They should have talked to other home owners in the area to see if there were any issues or problems.
As far as the business owner goes, he is required to follow the rules and ordinances of the township. If his equipment is running louder then allowed by the law then he needs to do something to resolve the issue.
The important thing is that it looks like the business owner is trying to come up with a compromise that will make everyone happy. Unfortunately knowing some of the people involved, I do not know if this is possible. We will have to see what pans out.
I think the residential owners were responsible for checking out the neighborhood before they bought their houses. Since the business was there first, I don't the the home owners should have a say. However, I do feel that the business needs to operate lawfully and should follow any ordincances that pertain to its zoning location.
Some of your classmates came up with a really cool plan! Please POST weekly...your POST should be related to the Chapter or Chapters we are working on that week. Then COMMENT once.
