Is working with family members harder?

Does anyone here work with family members and if so how do you like it??

  1. I worked for 7 years with "suto" family members. Thye were my husband's family - aunt, uncle and cousins. I worked for their family business which was a Family Entertainment Center for the beginning of my adult life. While things started out really great they eventually took a downturn for the worse. While my husband and I were made managers and given repsonsibilities, if we stepped too far we were told. And while we had these job titles they had put no trust into us. If something family related happened it spilled over into work even if it had nothing to do with it. Over time Feelings got hurt, mean things were said and eventually my husband left and I was "let go" soon after. We have not talked to this side of the family for almost 10 years! It is truly a shame. No one should let a bsiness fet in the way of being a family. Family is the only thing you have in the end when everyhting else is gone.

  2. At times it can be a great thing to work with family but on the other hand it can be just painful. The worst about working with family members would probably be if one is at a higher position than the other. In this case the one ith the lower position will not take the other seriously at times and then things may become more personal and the work place...
