Twittering - the Philly Enquirer

Right on cue - all of our discussions this week about marketing avenues and twittering, and the Inquirer runs a front-page article on twittering and its rampant poplularity. You know that something has hit the mainstream when the Inquirer covers it . . . See http://www.philly.com/inquirer/home_top_stories/20090305_All_a-Twitter__The_Tweet_smell_of_success.html

While the focus on the article is on the rising popluarity of twittering by stars, athletes and politicians (think Ashton Kutcher, Lance Armstrong, Jon Stewart and Obama), Twitter is increasingly an opportunity to find and dissemenate information. And as Angela points out, it's becoming a useful source for small business as well.

  1. Another new phenomenon in social connections via electronics!
Twittering seems to be making a big jump in popularity. While I can see some of the value and fun of this newest medium, I am also a little annoyed. Can we ever have private time again? Also, I am already annoyed when I talk to someone and he or she is busy texting to someone else. I find it rude and many times, the other person (usually younger) doesn't understand why I find it rude. What happened to focusing on the person you're with and giving him or her the compliment of your undivided attention? Although I am generally up-to-date with electronics and work in the technology center, even I have had enough right now.
